Four Days at Woodall-Addo

Over Easter weekend we went to the amazing Addo Elephant Park. We’ve been meaning to go for ages now and finally – with adding leave days on the Thursday and Tuesday – we had enough time on our hands to make a decent trip to one of South Africa’s most amazing national parks. We stayed at a beautiful Addo Elephant Park lodge, the Woodall-Addo Country House and Spa.

We left Cape Town on the Thursday morning, giving us plenty of time to make our way to the magnificent Eastern Cape. We had set aside the Thursday and the Tuesday as our ‘driving days’ – giving us enough time to enjoy the beautiful ten hour drive. This meant we had four full days to enjoy our Addo accommodation and Addo Elephant Park.

About 45 minutes away from Port Elizabeth, tucked away in the Sundays River Valley, you’ll find the Woodall-Addo Country House and Spa. We realised that we were basically on the door step of the Addo Elephant Park and the wonderful African wild. We were greeted with friendly smiles and helpful hands at the guesthouse. After the long drive the relaxing atmosphere at our Addo accommodation was just what we needed. That evening we dined at the Addo restaurant – which was an amazing experience; this is what South African cuisine is all about. We went to bed early on our first evening to rest for the exciting days ahead of us!

This is what we propose you do at the Woodall-Addo lodge and Addo Elephant Park for four days:

Day 1: Your first morning safari! The morning safaris are from 08h30 – 13h00 in summer time and 09h00 – 13h30 during the winter. The Addo Elephant Park showcases all of the Big Five. Activity at the various waterholes are especially exciting and promises amazing photo opportunities. Woodall- Addo assists with making your reservations and with giving you all the necessary information for your safari trip. Close by there are also hiking trails, horse trails, mountain tours, canoe river safaris and more available for you to enjoy at the Addo Park and surrounds.

Day 2 and Day 3: Woodall-Addo has an amazing health spa and gym which offers awesome packages for their visitors, because you have to relax to the max on your holiday! Woodall-Addo offers many signature packages, like the aroma spa mud wrap experience, warming citrus foot ritual and Mother Nature beauty ceremony for pregnant moms. These two days will leave you relaxed and content.

Day 4: It’s your final full day in the Addo Elephant Park and you should spend it in the wild – this is not negotiable! Decide whether you want to take another morning safari trip or you can take an afternoons trip which runs at 14h30 – 18h30 during the summer and 14h00 – 18h00 in winter time. There are also night drives available which promises to be exciting from beginning to end!
The next day we unfortunately had to pack our things and make our way back to Cape Town, but we were rested, happy and planned on returning to the Addo Elephant Park and the magnificent Addo accommodation, which for us was Woodall-Addo Country House and Spa!
